Tyson Fury v Deontay Wilder III: Is the Gypsy King ready for trilogy fight after chaotic camp?

Last update on. From the section Boxing
In recent weeks, Tyson Fury was taken from Sugarhill Steward, his coach.

Fury v Wilder III Location: T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Date: Saturday 9 October (approx 04.00 BST Sunday 10 October). Coverage: Live text updates at BBC Sport.

Tyson Fury believes Deontay wilder is the most dangerous heavyweight fighter and would defeat any rival, even Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua.

Fury said that fighting Wilder again - in Las Vegas, Saturday - is like "clipping wires to an atomic bomb," Fury says.

It is dangerous to confront Wilder, even though it isn't the fight WBC champion Fury wanted or the fans hoped for.

Briton's preparation was however not perfect.

Fury contracted Covid-19, and the original date for the summer fight was canceled. The October date was quickly rescheduled. Fury had to rush back to the UK in order to be with Paris, his wife, when Fury went into labor with Athena, her sixth child, with Fury. Athena spent several days in intensive care.

It's an understatement to say that Fury has had a turbulent few months.

It is easy to see why there might be questions about Fury's willingness to fight in this fight after all of the events. Fury cannot afford to lose even one moment of concentration in the face of the Bronze Bomber.

Sugarhill Steward, Fury's coach, said that Wilder was "tailored to be his most dangerous opponent" and that he had been able to defeat him in the rematch. This is the same man who orchestrated the shocking performance against Wilder 20 months ago.

Fury is ready to take on a seemingly rejuvenated, refocused Wilder?

Fury laughs at Wilder's claims that he isn't ready or not fully fit.

"Am I 100%?" I'm a million-percent. You can see me in great shape. Fury stated, "I'm as fit and healthy as a fiddle." I'm available today, tomorrow, and forever. I will always be available and I won't ever make excuses.

Return to the UK

Fury was placed in a long quarantine upon his return to the UK to be with Paris for Athena's birth on August 8.

Fury says that if I didn't have another fight, it wouldn't be a regret.

When Athena was in intensive care, the fighter sent a heartfelt message.

Fury stated that it was a stressful time for his family, with babies and complications. However, he minimized any impact on Wilder's preparations.

He said, "Camp is normal, I live a training camp life." "I have been training myself as Rocky. As I said, I don't know much about boxing.

Frank Warren met Fury at his Morecambe home and shared some positive insights into Fury's mental state after such stressful times.

Fury's copromoter stated that "the only concern I had was when his girl was in trouble."

It was very difficult times. Who cares about boxing when you have a baby? This takes over.

"When I met him in person, he was in a remarkable place. He's now in a better place physically. He's mentally on the right track. He's dangerous in the ring when he acts like this."

Separated from Steward

Fury continued his work outs in the gym while he was back in the UK. However, his trainer Steward could not join Fury until two weeks before his return to the States.

This means Fury's camp was severely disrupted during the build-up. Since their February 2020 meeting, neither Wilder nor Fury have fought.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, suggested Fury wasn't "ready", and even questioned whether Fury had Covid-19 in July.

Steward, however, dismissed any concerns about a random camp.

"Out of 20 month, we've been together for 18 months. He insists that they have been together for almost all of our lives.

"He was training every single day before we began working together. They are great friends. Although we have great fun together, I am serious as well.

Warren stated, "Tyson does not leave anything to chance." "He's so professional now. It's like Frank Bruno was back when he was young."

Tyson is exactly the exact same. His mental health is not a concern to me. He is mentally fine. Tyson Fury is the only one who can beat Tyson Fury."

Fury is the favorite

Fury's greatest performances were when he was unfancied.

Fury was not given a chance against Wladimir Klitschko, the 2015 unified champion. In 2015, opinions were divided about Wilder's chances. On Saturday, Fury is clearly the favourite.

Steve Egan, who was an amateur trainer of Fury, believes Fury has one flaw.

He said that Tyson could be too relaxed or too confident. "Thinking, "I'm walking this" and getting caught.

He was a small man who caught Steve Cunningham. But speed is everything. You can just switch off your mind for a moment and boom! It takes only one, isn't it?

Steward however shrugged off any hint of complacency.

Steve Egan, Tyson Fury's first coach, recalls their first meeting at 14 years old.

He said, "It's no problem for him getting up to this fight or for me getting up to this fight."

The doubters may be again circling Fury, but the fighter isn't worried.

He stated, "There's nothing more I could do to prepare for any fight." "This is me. I am at my peak. "Now is the best Tyson Fury."
