Prices for Hulus will rise beginning Friday, October 8, at the same time as its annual and monthly subscription tiers.
In September, it was reported that Hulus' monthly cost would rise by $1 per month (or $10 per year) to $7 per month (ad supported), $13 per monthly (no ads), and $70 per annum, respectively. Hulus monthly subscriptions, both ad supported and ad free, will increase in cost by one dollar. However, live TV tiers won't be affected. These plans saw a price rise in the latter part of last year.
Hulu sent a reminder email to subscribers that the price increase will be reflected in the first billing cycle after October 8. Subscribers will be charged the new price unless the subscription is cancelled before Friday.
Hulu stated that subscribers who subscribe through a promotional or discount offer will not be affected. In September, Hulu also stated that subscribers who have subscribed to Hulu via the Disney Bundle will not see any price increases.
Hulus made a few changes to its service in the year before the price hike, even though it has been experiencing regular price increases. Hulus added RedZone and the NFL Network to its live TV service in July. In April, it added ViacomCBS channels including Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. It also announced HDR support on some of its originals, but not all.
