Tesla is moving its headquarters to Austin, Texas

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, announced Thursday that the company will move its headquarters from Silicon Valley, California to Austin, Texas. The factory has been in operation for just over a year.

He stated that he will continue to expand his activities in California during the annual shareholder meeting. This is not about Tesla leaving California.

This is not about Tesla leaving California

Musk threatened to take Teslas entire operation out of California after he disapproved with the shelter in place orders that the state relied on during the coronavirus pandemic. Tesla even sued the California county where the company's California factory is located. Last year, Musk moved to Texas as SpaceX expanded its presence in Texas. At one time, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that California was too indifferent to its residents and businesses.

In 2020, Tesla began construction of its next US Gigafactory near Austin. It has made incredible progress over the past year. We are going to create an eco-paradise here.. along the Colorado River. This refers to how the company plans on opening up some of the land to public. Musk stated Thursday that Tesla is looking to do more large-scale installations of battery storage, similar to the one Bloomberg first reported earlier this year.

Musk stated that Tesla built in Austin because of the willingness of employees to relocate there.

Musk stated Thursday that it is difficult for people to afford houses in California. Musk stated that Tesla's Austin location is close to the airport.

Tesla will move to Texas during a time of pressure on many businesses to leave Texas, following the recent passage of one the strictest anti-abortion laws the country. In a CNBC interview, Texas Governor Greg Abbott used Tesla and Musk as an example to show that this was not a new trend. Abbott stated in September that Elon needed to leave California due to California's social policies. Musk repeatedly told me that he liked Texas' social policies.

Musk replied to the clip with a tweet. He said that he believes government should not impose its will on people and should, instead, strive to maximize their happiness.

He added that he would prefer to remain out of politics.
