TOP STORY: PSG joins the chase for Salah

Liverpool's star Mohamed Salah is currently in negotiations for a new contract. However, Fabrizio Romano, a journalist, has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain was interested in Salah in the summer and could move again if necessary to replace Kylian Maappe.

Romano posted an update on the Rio Ferdinand Presents Five Youtube channel. He stated that Salah was still in talks with Liverpool. According to what I hear, he loves Liverpool and the city. However, there has not yet been an agreement on a new contract. If players like Kylian Mbapp leave, we should be watching out for other clubs. Liverpool will continue to be Salah's number one priority until next summer.

The contract for the Egypt international will expire in 2023. The Reds are keen to sign new contracts for their top players to avoid a similar situation as Georginio Wijaldum's free transfer to Parc de Princes this summer.

Parisians are currently dealing with a contract dispute. Mbappe, a 22-year-old forward, will be leaving the club in 2022. Real Madrid made a few late bids for the France international on transfer deadline day. With a contract still not sorted, Mbappe could be leaving the club.

PSG was interested in Salah because of the late interest from LaLiga. Romano stated that PSG considered Salah as a possible replacement for Mbappe. They were ready to do something large, and they wanted it to be done with Salah.

08.00 BST: Sources tell ESPN's Rob Dawson that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would not let Donny van der Beek leave Manchester United in January, even if his prospects at Old Trafford are poor.

Van de Beek started only five minutes in the Premier League and two of United's 10 matches so far this season. Van de Beek, a former Ajax player, has been unable to play in Louis van Gaal’s latest Netherlands squad. This has prompted speculation that Van de Beek could be looking to leave in January's transfer window.

ESPN has been told by sources that Solskjaer is ready for Van de Beek's departure in January, but the Norwegian wants to keep his team together until he makes decisions about fringe players next summer.

Solskjaer admitted that he had "overplayed" key players last season. He wants to avoid the same situation this year. Van de Beek, along with other squad players, have been assured that there will be enough games this season. However there is an understanding that it has been made more difficult by the Carabao Cup's early exit.

Van de Beek played 15 games last season, his first English game since a 40m move to Ajax in 2020. Seven of those were in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. Since his arrival, he has only started four leagues.
