Star Trek Documentary Series First Trailer: The Center Seat

The trailer suggests that documentary series The Center Seat 55 Years of Star Trek will primarily consist of interviews with cast members and crew members from the long-running Star Trek franchise. This is a sort of oral history of the show. If the trailer's intriguingly funny soundbites are any indication, it will be a spicy oral history. It makes us want more.

The series was created by the Nacelle Company (Netflixs The Movies That Made Us, The Toys That Made Us; Disney+s Behind the Attraction), and the History Channel. Dr. Beverly Crusher, Gates McFadden, is the host. The series' director is Brian V olk - Weiss, founder of Nacelle Company.

A press release gives more information about the documentary series:

This series will be released just in time to celebrate Star Trek's 55th Anniversary. Each episode highlights a different part of the program's history from its origins at Lucille Balls legendary production house Desilu, through its later iterations Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. Interviews with crew and cast reveal new insights and backstage stories that are not available elsewhere. There are many lesser-known aspects of Star Trek, such as Phase II and The Animated Series. Star Trek remains the most popular television science-fiction series ever made and is still a hugely loved TV show. The Center Seat explains how the series began, where it has been, and how it boldly went where no other television series has gone before.

Nichelle Nichols and Brent Spiner are among the interviewees. The Center Seat will not be touching on current Star Trek series like Discovery, Picard and Lower Decks. However, all of those shows have new episodes or are soon to air so they're still contributing to the show's legend. Perhaps there will be a Center Seat Part 2 with cast and crew from these titles, when it comes to the 60th anniversary?

Although the press release does not specify how many episodes it will have (it was originally announced as eight-part series back in March), nor a release date, it is possible that tomorrow's Nacelle Companys New York Comic Con panel might provide more details about how we can get into this one.
