Federal judge blocks enforcement of Texas' 6-week abortion ban

A federal judge halted enforcement of Texas' strict abortion law, which bans the procedure within six weeks of pregnancy.
Judge Robert Pitman stated in his order: "This Court won't sanction one more day this offensive deprivation, such an important right."

The decision granted the Biden administration the right to temporarily block the enforcement of the law.

On Wednesday, a federal judge blocked Texas' strict abortion law. The law prohibits the procedure after six weeks.

Robert Pitman, US District Judge, stated in his 113-page ruling that "this Court will never sanction one more day for this offensive deprivation or such an important right."

This ruling was based on a legal challenge by the Biden administration to Texas in an attempt to temporarily stop enforcement of the six week ban.
