Roy scored 116 runs for Sunrisers in just four innings this year, which includes one half-century.

Indian Premier League, Abu Dhabi - Sunrisers Hyderabad 142-1 (20 overs); Roy 44 (38), Williamson 31 (30), Christian 3-3, Christian 2-14 Royal Challengers Bangalore 136-7 (20 overs); Paddikal 41 (52), Maxwell 39 (25); Malik 1--21 Sunrisers Hyderabad won the match by four runs Scorecard Table

With a victory of four runs over Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad placed bottom in the Indian Premier League.

Jason Roy struck 44 runs off 38 balls, and Sunrisers posted 141-7 in 20 overs.

Despite Glenn Maxwell's 25 ball 40, RCB needed 13 to reach Abu Dhabi.

Virat Kohli's team is currently third in the table, and they are unlikely to surpass second-placed Chennai Super Kings because of their inferior net run rate.

Teams with a top-two finish have two chances to qualify for final on October 15.

Roy rode his luck on a tricky surface

Sunrisers were already guaranteed to finish the season at bottom of the table. Roy was given an opportunity to break free and secure his place in the team.

The opener batted 15 overs and scored five boundaries on a difficult surface.

Roy's contribution was significant, but he also had his moments, especially in the ninth over, bowled by Shahbaz Ahmad - when he could easily have been dismissed three times.

Roy missed a big swing, but it landed safely. If Kohli's throw had hit the stumps, Roy would have been out. The next delivery was a top-edged one inch short of third man.

He was tricked by Harshal Ptel's slower ball in the eleventh over. The ball again landed between the fielders.

Roy was finally dismissed after he returned the ball to Daniel Christian (2-14), and was caught and bowled.

Malik is super quick - one for tomorrow?

While there are not many positives from Sunrisers' disappointing season, Umran Malik's emergence could be one.

The 21-year old, who was playing in his second IPL match, bowled with genuine pace. He hit the deck hard and received his first IPL wicket when Srikar Bharat was dismissed.

Malik's ninth over saw him reach a speed of 153 km/h (95 mph), which was the fastest delivery this year.

This feat is remarkable when you consider that quicks like Anrich Nortje (Delhi Capitals), Kagiso Rahabada (Delhi Capitals), and Lockie Ferguson, (Kolkata Knight Riders), all participated in the IPL this season.

Malik was selected as a temporary replacement for the Sunrisers' squad in April after T Natarajan contracted Covid-19.

The cricketing fraternity was impressed by the ability to consistently bowl at high speeds while maintaining a low economy rate.

Harshal eyes record

The most wickets in an IPL Season: Dwayne Bravo (32-Chenna Super Kings, 2013, Kagiso Raja (30-Delhi Capitals, 2020), Harshal Ptel (29- Royal Challengers Bangalore 2021 - pictured), Lasith Malinga (28) - Mumbai Indians (2011) and James Faulkner (28) - Rajasthan Royals (2013)

Harshal, a RCB seamer, took 3-33 and moved to third on the list of wickets taken in an IPL season (29).

Harshal was able to dismiss Sunrisers' captain Kane Williamson using a charming off-cutter. He also took the wickets of Jason Holder, Wriddhiman Sha and Wriddhiman Saha.

Dwayne Bravo, who has 32 wickets for Chennai Super Kings (2013) is currently at the top of the list.

Harshal still has one game in the group and RCB is through to the play offs. Harshal can break the West Indies veteran record.
