Lufthansa will offer extended product ranges in Economy and Premium Economy classes on long-haul flights starting 1 December, following the introduction of Onboard Delights for short-haul flights. Onboard Delights Interkont (OBD) Interkont aims to increase customer satisfaction by offering a wider range of high-quality food and beverages on long-haul flights.

OBD Interkont won't replace Economy Class. Passengers will still be able to enjoy a wide variety of complimentary food items and beverages. OBD Interkont, which will be available as an addition to the regular service aisles of OBD, will offer passengers a wider range of high-quality snacks, drinks, and other items to help them better cater to their individual needs.

OBD Interkont will replace the existing intermediate service for long-haul flights. It will also follow the first service for short long-haul and night flights. OBD Interkont's produkt range will feature high-quality products and be based on OBD short-haul offers. Lufthansa's new offering addresses the varied needs of passengers when it comes time to choose food and beverages. In the intervals between services, guests have different needs than standard products. They want more variety and better quality. OBD Interkont offers passengers an additional option. Only spirits that were given as freebies prior to the pandemic will be transferred into the chargeable range.

While the OBD Interkont service is still being developed and the exact design for the product range are still being finalized, flying colleagues have been part of the project since the beginning. To test the proposed workflows and processes, several test flights will be conducted on select US routes (LAX & BOS) in October.
