HMD has released its first Android tablet, a Nokia-branded tablet, after years of focusing on smartphones. This is something we haven't seen since 2014 when Nokia launched the N1 Android tablet.
The T20 tablet is a 10.4 inch tablet that can be used to study and work from home. The US version will be available starting November 17th. In the UK, the tablet will be available beginning today at 179.99 for Wi-Fi and 199.99 for LTE.
The Nokia T20, despite its low price tag, isn't a powerful Android tablet. The T20 is powered by a small Unisoc Tiger T610 processor and comes in the US and UK with 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. HMD estimates that the 8,200mAh battery can last 15 hours of web surfing, 7 hour conference calls, and 10 hours film viewing. Fast-charging is possible with the tablet at 15W.
The tablets are 10.4 inches in size (1200 x 2000) and a 5-megapixel webcam is located on the left side. This makes it easier to make calls when the tablet's orientation is landscape. If you like to take pictures with your tablet, there is an 8-megapixel camera in the back. It has an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance, so it can withstand a light splash.
HMD is sticking with the stock Android experience for the software, which isn't surprising considering the dearth of tablet-optimized applications. Samsung and other manufacturers have developed their own software features, such as DeX, to address Android's shortcomings on large screens. HMD does not plan to follow suit. HMD promises two years of major OS updates and three years of security updates per month for the T20. This warranty is not extended like the one we had with the Nokia X20 earlier in this year.
The T20s box includes a USB-C charger cable and brick. However, the company also sells a flip case or rugged case separately to protect your tablet from scratches and bumps. The rugged case is $39.99/39.99 and the flip case $59.99/49.99.
