Stephen Colbert gleefully mocks Facebook's massive outage

Oculus, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and WhatsApp were all offline for hours Monday. This was despite Oculus experiencing one of its longest outages. Employees were left scrambling for solutions as the internal communication system of Facebook and access badges to buildings weren't functioning.
Stephen Colbert, Late Show host, said that Facebook did not reveal the cause of the outage as the panic increased. "Now, I am not a computer expert, but I believe that there is a just God."

Facebook isn’t a well-loved tech giant. This was made clear by Frances Haugen, a former employee who revealed its negative social impact. Facebook's platforms are known for hosting hateful and divisive material, stealing users' data and highlighting the worst aspects of humanity. The leaked documents are not surprising.

Are you telling me that a corporation would choose money over safety for consumers? Colbert noted Haugen's claim that Facebook promotes hateful content automatically to its users. "Well, if Facebook algorithms like things that make people angry, they're gonna love news about the Facebook algorithm."
