Dessert names are back!
Google has reintroduced the rather silly tradition of Android Snow Cone, or Android 12 as it was in 2019 when new Android versions were launched.
Dave Burke, Google's vice president of engineering for Android, shared the news via Twitter.
Android Central reports that Snow Cone has been used as an internal Android 12 dessert name, similar to Red Velvet Cake. Google seems to be serious about naming major Android versions after dessert names.
On Monday, Android's AOSP (Android Open Source Project), released a stable version of Android 12. It will be widely available when the new Pixel phones launch in a few more weeks.
Google claims that the new Android version brings a new "Material You", design. This is Google's biggest design change. Widgets were also redesigned. Settings now has a privacy dashboard, so users can expect improved performance and other improvements.
