Elinor Barker: Olympic cyclist reveals she won Tokyo silver while expecting first child

Elinor Barker finished her pursuit of Olympic gold in Rio 2016 with silver at Tokyo.

Elinor Barker revealed that she is pregnant and was already pregnant with her first child when she won silver at Tokyo Olympics.

Cardiff's 27-year old was part of Great Britain’s women’s team pursuit squad, which won a medal in August.

Barker shared her news via Twitter Tuesday. She said that she and her partner are "so excited" to begin the next chapter of their lives together.

On Instagram, she added that she was "yep" and was also pregnant during the Tokyo Olympics.

Barker's positive news is even more remarkable because she revealed in 2019 that her endometriosis was a condition that can lead to pain, heavy periods, and fatigue.

This condition can affect around 10% of women in their reproductive years and can make it harder to conceive.
