Fury says that if I didn't have another fight, it wouldn't be a regret.
Fury v Wilder III Location: T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Date: Saturday 9 October (approx 04.00 BST Sunday 10 October). Coverage: Live text updates at BBC Sport.
Tyson Fury, the British world champion heavyweight boxer, says that his accomplishments in the sport have made him a "great boxer" and that his passion for fighting is what drives him to keep going.
The 33-year-old unbeaten fighter defends his WBC title in Las Vegas against American Deontay Wester.
This will be Fury's third fight, after they fought in a draw in 2018. Fury won the seventh round in 2020.
Fury said, "If I didn’t have any more fights, I wouldn’t regret anything."
He said this on BBC Radio 5 Live's Boxing Podcast: "I am not fighting for the greatest of all times, I'm certainly not fighting for a legend."
"It wouldn’t benefit me earning additional 50m or 200m. You don’t need to have a rich life to live it - I’m just a normal, good boxer and a very chosen person.
"I could leave boxing and never look back. What I have done is unimaginable."
"People will always remember Tyson Fury the mysterious man who fought everyone, the biggest punchers of our generation didn’t faze him. He crossed the pond and fought [Wladimir] Klitschko.
"Even without belts, I would still be the greatest fighter out there."
Wilder was knocked down twice by Fury on his way to a victory in the seventh round in Las Vegas in February 2020
"After I finish boxing, I will be very sad and lonely."
Fury has not fought since his spectacular performance in February 2020 against Wilder, in which he knocked Wilder down twice, before Wilder got the towel.
"What motivates you?" Fury said, "I get asked this a lot." It's not a few quid. It's a fact that there is nothing else.
"I box because I can. I don’t like any other sport, and I don’t have any hobbies. I'll be very lonely after boxing.
"I have tried looking after animals, four-wheel driving, shotgun licensing, clay pigeon firing, but nothing has worked."
Fury was the world champion in November 2015 after a points victory over Klitschko. However, he did not fight for more then two years because his weight rose to 28 stone and he had mental health problems.
He says that he knows now what makes him happy.
He said, "I have drunk all the beer in this world and done everything." It makes me happy to have been on boats, planes and automobiles. I've also stayed in luxurious hotels, eaten dinners for up to three times the price. No. You will never find happiness if you're constantly searching for things like this. But simplicity can make you happy.
"I will never become a politician, Prime Minister of England, or rocket scientist. I will be me, and I won't change who I am.
"I will never stop training, even if I die." I have a large training facility and a gym in Morecambe. I plan to continue working full-time at the gym and with the foundation stuff after I stop boxing. "I don't have the time and I'm busy with my career, but I will spend a lot time doing this."
Fury "learns so quickly"
SugarHill Steward, Trainer believes Fury is still improving which is why he still enjoys it.
Steward stated that the things that were done in the second fight have made a huge improvement. Tyson is an incredible athlete and has a great ability to move around the board in all categories. He also learns so quickly.
Wilder, 35, was defeated by Fury in the first professional fight of his career. Fury is anticipating a thrilling fight at the T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas. The contest will begin at 04:00 BST Sunday 10 October.
Fury said, "We know what we can both do, there are no secrets." Fury said, "I'm dealing a guy who can knock you out with one hit and he's doing the same."
"When the two largest heavyweights are going head-to-head on the biggest stage, you're always in for an exciting evening. It's easy for the heavyweight landscape to change quickly. I have to make sure it doesn't change.
Fury has had 30 wins and one draw during his professional 31-fight career. He also has 21 victories within the distance.
Boxing is not a sensible sport
Fury was set to fight Anthony Joshua in a summer bout, but a court arbitral ruled that Fury should fight Wilder.
Joshua lost his WBA and WBO world heavyweight titles to Ukraine’s Oleksandr Uzyk. This defeat ended any hopes for an all-British bout to become the undisputed champion.
Bob Arum, Fury's copromoter, believes Usyk should be Fury’s next opponent, and not Joshua.
Arum stated, "What should happen is Tyson loses, he fights Usyk for the titles next with the provision that Joshua wins."
"If this were a sensible sport, that's what would happen. But it's not. You have [Joshua’s promoter] Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua's personal ego, Frank [Warren] stating things.
"You would have Usyk face Tyson in February, and Joshua fight the winner in September - no matter what if you lose, you must give my guy another chance."
Fury for Joshua?
Joshua already stated that he would take a rematch against Usyk, and Fury thinks the Briton could win.
Fury stated that "a lot of people who don't know anything about boxing were saying that the smaller guy [Usyk] would be beaten by Joshua."
Do I believe he can beat Usyk?" Yes, I think he could beat Usyk if SugarHill and me trained him. But then, I wouldn't have the ability to train him for a fight.
