James Ward-Prowse, Southampton's midfielder, has been named in England's World Cup qualifying squad to replace Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips, a Leeds United midfielder, has been forced to withdraw after suffering a calf injury during Saturday's Premier League victory against Watford.

The Elland Road club stated that "He will remain at Thorp Arch for treatment by Leeds United's medical staff."

England will face Andorra at home on 9 October, and Hungary at home on 12 Oct.

With 16 points from six games, the Three Lions lead Group I.

Ward-Prowse (26 years old) was part of the 24-man England squad who joined up at St. George's Park Tuesday.

He has eight England caps, and he scored once at the international level.

Chelsea's defender Ben Chilwell and Roma's striker Tammy Abraham were previously added to Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
