Huawei’s Ryzen 5000-equipped MateBook 16 is getting a global release

The global launch of Huawei's MateBook 16, which features a large 16 inch display and a Ryzen 5500 series processor, has been announced by the company. Although the laptop was initially announced for China in May, it will soon be available worldwide. Prices start at 1,099 (around $1.274) for the Ryzen5 model and 1,199 (around $ 1,390 for the Ryzen7).
The MateBook 16 is Huawei's first high-performance notebook, thanks to its compatibility with AMDs Ryzen 5000 series laptop processors. You can choose between a Ryzen 5800H and a Ryzen5600H processors, along with 16GB RAM and 512GB NVMe storage. Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6 support are available.

MateBook 16s is a 16-inch IPS panel that has a resolution of 2520 x 1680. This works out to a 3:1 aspect ratio, which is our preference for productivity laptops. The screen is surrounded by a thin Huawei laptop bezel. This is due to the fact that the keyboard conceals the 720p webcam. If the previous Huawei laptops are any indication, this is likely to work well for keeping the screen bezels smaller but can make it difficult to focus on video calls from your nose. The power button also has a fingerprint sensor.

Two USB-A sockets and two USB-C ports are included. There is also a full-size HDMI port and a 3.5mm headset jack. An included 135W USB–C power adaptor is used to charge the laptop's 84Wh battery. You also get dual mics and two front-firing 2W speakers. There is also Huawei Share support. This allows you to mirror a Huawei phone's screen and control it from your laptop. Or, use a paired tablet to draw on the surface.

Huawei didn't provide any release dates or markets for the laptop prior to publication. However, they confirmed that it will be initially available in selected markets in Western Europe.
