Stephen King's horror novel The Outsider is the latest project to the get the Hollywood treatment, this time being backed by HBO.

The premium network shared the first trailer for The Outsider today, which teases a peculiar, unnerving murder mystery. Giving off major True Detective vibes, the limited-series will star Jason Bateman (who also directed a few episodes) as the as the prime suspect, while Ben Mendelsohn is the detective assigned to the murder of an 11-year old boy.

The footage begins with an unspeakbale crime as auhorities discover the mutilated corpse of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson in the woods of Georgia. All eyes are on Terry Maitland (Bateman), a local family man, Little League coach, and English teacher, although he has a solid alibi to his whereabouts on the night of the murder. What makes the case even more baffling is the conflicting evidence against Terry. "His prints are all over the crime scene, the TV footage puts him 60 miles away," Mendelsohn's detective Ralph Anderson can be heard saying. Check out the trailer above.
