In a Sunday interview with "Face The Nation", Dr. Anthony Fauci stated that although the speed of COVID-19 cases has slowed, it is too soon to know if it will make it safe for loved ones to gather over the holidays.

Fauci stated that it was important to keep those numbers down, not jump ahead by weeks and months or say what they're going do at a given time. He also suggested that vaccinations and boosters should be continued to reduce COVID-19.

Fauci warned the US not to become complacent in the months before the holidays because of the history and surges during the pandemic. This is especially true considering that 70 million Americans are still unvaccinated. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky confirmed the figure at a White House press conference on Friday.

Fauci and the most recent CDC data show that 55% of Americans have been fully vaccinated as of October 3. 64% of Americans have had at least one dose COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the New York Times data, the COVID-19 death toll in America topped 700,000. There were approximately 2,000 new deaths each day.
