The New York Yankees won a wild-card berth against the Tampa Bay Rays in October 3. They will now face Boston in Tuesday's match.

The San Francisco Giants won the NL West with their 107th victory of 2021. It took them until the last day of the season to win the title. Los Angeles will be heading to the NL Wild Card Game where it will host St. Louis.

With a 6-4 victory over the Cubs, the Milwaukee Brewers secured at least one wild-card spot. The Milwaukee Brewers secured the NL Central title on September 26 with an 8-4 victory over the Mets.

With a 7-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, the Tampa Bay Rays secured their third consecutive playoff spot. Later, Tampa Bay won the AL East title with a 7-3 victory over the Marlins. This win gave Tampa Bay the AL's best record.

With a 7-2 win over Cleveland in the opening of a Sept. 23 doubleheader, the Chicago White Sox won the AL Central. They are now the first team to win a division championship in 2021.

St. Louis' 17th consecutive win, a 6-2 win against Milwaukee on Sept. 28, secured the team's third straight postseason appearance. The Cardinals' winning streak, which ended Wednesday night with a 4-0 loss against the Brewers, was the longest of any National League team since the 1935 Cubs had won 21 consecutive.

With a 5-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, the Atlanta Braves won their fourth consecutive NL East title. They were without a winning record for 126 days, which is the fourth-longest streak by division winners since 1969 and the longest since 1989 Blue Jays.
