Trump demands revocation of 2018 Pulitzer Prize, cites Russian collusion misreporting

Donald Trump, former President, called upon the Pulitzer Prize Board for the revocation of the 2018 National Reporting Awards to the Washington Post and New York Times for their coverage on Russian collusion. He claimed that the stories were based in "false reporting" as well as a "complete absence of evidence".
The coverage, as has been widely reported, was a political farce that attempted to spin a false narrative about my campaign allegedly colluding with Russia, despite the complete lack of evidence supporting this claim, Trump wrote to Bud Kliment (interim administrator of the awards).

Trump used the evidence of his complaint to support his claim by pointing out Michael Sussmann's indictment, a lawyer who worked for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in John Durham's investigation. Durham claimed that Sussmann lied about his identity to the FBI when he tipped off the FBI in September 2016 to an alleged link between Trump's campaign and Alfa Bank. Alfa Bank has ties with the Kremlin.

The Sussmann Indictment is a scathing attack on the media's obsession with the collusion story. Indictment accuses Mr. Sussman, who presented evidence purporting show secret communications between my organisation and the Russia-based Alfa Bank. Trump also added this in the letter.

Former president also complained about how the media outlets featured the sources that were awarded for their work. He specifically pointed to articles that credited "people who have knowledge, current or former officials, and other vaguely identified individuals."

Trump stated that the PPB must act in accordance with the law. He said that the awards are a mark of respect and mean that the reporting honored is credible, reliable, and trustworthy.

Trump stated that he expected Trump to take all necessary steps to correct the situation. He said Trump would remove the Pulitzer Prize recipients from their prizes and retract the false statements that remain on the Pulitzer website. The integrity of the Pulitzer Prize namesake is at risk if the recipients are not held to such high standards of accountability.

Trump had previously asked for the prizes to be rescinded in March 2019.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the PPB, but did not receive an immediate response.
