Salt Lake City police have announced that a 22-year old man was arrested in connection to the shooting death of Aaron Lowe, a Utah football player.
Buk M. Buk was charged with attempted murder, aggravated murder, and felony discharge.
21-year-old Lowe was shot at a Sugar House party on Sept. 26. After extensive surgery, a 20-year old woman who was also injured in the shooting remains in critical condition.
Police detained Buk in Draper (UT) on Sunday morning.
In a statement, Mike Brown, Salt Lake City's police chief said that "In a moment of need we turned to our community." We asked for information from the public and invited them to come forward. We have now arrested the suspect in the murder of Aaron Lowe thanks to those tips and our unrelenting pursuit for justice by our homicide detectives. This senseless shooting has impacted so many lives.
Lowe was a sophomore cornerback hailing from Mesquite (Texas). Lowe was close to Utah's running back Ty Jordan. He died in an accident shooting in December. In August, he became the first recipient the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship.
Donovan Mitchell, Utah Jazz's star, wore No. 22 was worn at practice Saturday to honor Jordan and Lowe.
