Cameron Norrie was eliminated in round one of the US Open. He had reached round three at the other three Grand Slam tournaments this year.

Cameron Norrie, from Britain, put on a great performance to defeat Andrey Rublev of Russia in the San Diego Open final.

Norrie won the second set after losing the first, winning 3-6 6-3 and 6-4.

Although Rublev was the stronger player, Norrie looked more dangerous after he improved his serving in the second set.

To seal the victory, he used his forehand to great effect and dragged the number four world ranking around the court.

Norrie said, "This match is one I will always remember - it was such a huge win for me."

"Andrey started out firing, and played some great tennis at the beginning. But I was able to weather the storm."

In Sunday's final, Norrie, world number 28, will face either Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov or second seed Casper Ruud from Norway.

He said, "I'm going enjoy today, but looking forward to tomorrow."

Norrie began the match well, but Rublev broke to go 3-0 up. He maintained his advantage and won the set on his third point.

Norrie came back strong in the second set and took a 4-1 lead that he never lost.

Norrie broke first in the decider. Rublev tried to throw everything at him, but the Briton held firm and won the victory with a forehand win for his second career victory over a top-five player.
