Omarosa Manigault Newman: Jan. 6 committee 'on the right track' with Katrina Pierson subpoena

Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former White House aide, stated that the House committee investigating Jan. 6's Capitol Riot is "on track" and subpoenaed Katrina Pierson, a 2016 Trump campaign spokeswoman.
Manigault Newman used a phrase that All the President's Men popularized, which was based on a book written by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward about the Watergate scandal. To argue that Pierson may have crucial information linking President Donald Trump to the attack on Congress, Manigault Newman used the phrase.

"Not only was Katrina one the organizers, she was also behind the money. You know, and every scandal it's always follow the money'," Manigault Newman stated Saturday on MSNBC. "And she was so involved in raising money and organizing events, I believe that the committee is correct in subpoenaing.

"She's going be able to have a lot information, and she had lots of insight on what they know and when. And I believe that Donald Trump's violent instincts made it clear that he knew things would get out of control," Manigault Newman said.

MARK MEADOWS REPORTS ON FBI INFORMANT IN THE CAPITOL ROOT CROWD: "THERE IS A WHOLE LOT TO COME OUT."

Pierson claimed that she was involved with the Jan. 5th and 6 rallies leading up to the Capitol Riot and was in direct contact with Trump regarding the events. Pierson was cited in news reports. The committee is seeking documents and testimony from Pierson.

Manigault Newman stated that Katrina should be concerned and that they'll watch what happens. However, the committee is on the right path.

Pierson was among 11 people subpoenaed last week by the Jan.6 committee.

Pierson tweeted that it would be an honor to defend the First Amendment rights of the American People before a totalitarian partisan-driven, and wholly corrupt Congress of the United States."

Pierson responded to the Manigault Newman comments by tweeting, "Most people have a brain and have become skilled with my names in their mouths because of my excellent defamation lawyers. This charade is sure to add more wins.

The speech Trump gave to rallygoers on Jan. 6, before the Capitol Riot, in which he said that there was widespread fraud in 2020's election, has received a lot of attention. He exhorted the crowd to "fight harder" and "stop the theft."

Trump was impeached for the second time on charges of inciting insurrection related to the Capitol Riot, which disrupted lawmakers' efforts to confirm President Joe Biden’s electoral victory. The GOP-led Senate acquitted Trump, but Manigault Neuman and other supporters of the theory that Trump incriminated himself through his actions have supported this idea.

She told Alex Witt, MSNBC host, that if these people come forward and tell their truths, all roads will point back to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and Donald Trump was involved in spearheading this effort.

Manigault Newman was an old ally of Trump and appeared on his first season of The Apprentice. She helped Trump win his 2016 campaign, and she became the director of communications at the White House Office of Public Liaison. She resigned in late 2017 after Trump's White House announcement. Since then, she has been critical about Trump and his administration.

Trump was defeated by Manigault Newman last week, when a New York arbitrator ruled that Trump's nondisclosure agreement to his former White House aide was invalid.
