Tesla sales continue to surge in the face of chip shortages

Tesla sold 241,300 vehicles in the third quarter 2021. This is 102,000 more than in the same period last year. This is only slightly less than half the 446 997 cars that GM sold over the past three months. However, this number is a 33 percent decline in GM's sales year-over-year. If my calculations are correct, that would mean it sold more cars globally than Subaru over the past three months.
It's not surprising that Tesla has risen while other automakers struggle. But, if you dig deeper into the details, it isn't surprising. According to The Verge and rewriting its software, Tesla is sourcing new silicon while other manufacturers are feeling the brunt.

The company also recently started selling the Model Y in Europe, but it is still relatively new to China. This gives it plenty of potential for growth.

However, Tesla is not in a good place. The US National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the company. It's just a few months since a huge recall of almost 300,000 vehicles in China. There are also delays in the Roadster, Cybertruck, and electric semi-truck.
