At a hearing in Albany, New York state health officials stripped Dr. Danielle Roberts of her medical license. She was associated with Nxivm - a cult disguised as self-help marketing company.

According to the Associated Press, Roberts was charged with multiple acts of professional misconduct by officials from New York Department of Health. This included her use of a cauterizing device "to deliberately cause them pain," according to the New York Post.

The Times Union in Albany reported that a subcommittee decided in 3-0 to revoke Roberts' license. It also agreed that Roberts had committed 12 types of professional misconduct.

Roberts, according to reports, was part of Nxivm's DOS group and without anesthesia, he "KAR" on at least 17 women's pelvic regions.

Mark Vincente, a former Nxivm member identified Roberts in a June 2019 trial against Keith Raniere as both a slave and master. He called her the "brander."

According to Friday's Times Union report, one woman described the experience "an acute fire within the most sensitive part my body,"

Roberts denied being brainwashed. However, she did not express any real regret to the hearing committee. This represented her distortion of reality and her concern that others will remain vulnerable to her future brandings, the committee's decision, according to The Post.

Anthony Scher, Roberts' attorney, told the Associated Press that the evidence was overwhelming that she wasn't practicing medicine. Therefore, the usual standards for medical practice don’t apply. Scher also indicated that Roberts would likely appeal the decision.
