Andros Townsend scored five goals in nine Everton appearances in all competitions.
Everton earned a point against Manchester United at Old Trafford thanks to Andros Townsend's second half equaliser.
Rafael Benitez's men fell behind just before the break when Anthony Martial scored his first goal since February.
Fred and Aaron Wan Bissaka were able to ignore Demarai Gray's plight, as Everton retaliated from a United corner. Townsend drove a low shot into the corner of Abdoulaye Doucoure’s lay-off.
Townsend was celebrated in a Cristiano Ronaldo-esque style. It was more than what the man could manage. Ronaldo, who was left on the bench following his injury-time win against Villarreal on Wednesday night, came on in the 56th minute. He had little impact before and after the equaliser.
Everton thought that they had a winner in four minutes, but VAR intervened and ruled Yerry mina's tap out for offside.
This is the latest in a string of disappointing home results for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team. They lost against Aston Villa seven day ago, after being dumped out West Ham's EFL Cup.
The Unconvincing Man Utd
Man United 1-1 Everton - It's all about choosing the right moments to play Ronaldo Solskjaer
Even though United was leading the 'in play' table at half-time there were still many questions for Solskjaer, and his team.
In the weeks to come, more information will be available.
United will be playing fixtures at home with Liverpool and Manchester City as well as tricky trips to Leicester, Tottenham, and Leicester, to give an indication of their ability to challenge for the title in the coming season. This is something that they seemed to do last year, but then fell apart in January, just as Pep Guardiola's team were advancing clear.
They maintained the speed and fluidity they have been lacking for the first 10 minutes against Everton. Then it began to drift away.
Martial broke the deadlock and it was the visitors that were posing the greatest goal threat. Salomon Rondon, Abdoulaye Doucoure had shots blocked. David de Gea made a spectacular one-handed save to deny Gray.
This opportunity came when what should have been an easy pass to Edinson from Fernandes to Lucas Digne was actually quite complicated.
Cavani made a great save from Jordan Pickford by making a down header while the game was still goalless. Jadon Sancho may have done better with a late chance that he drove directly at his England team-mate. Even with Paul Pogba being introduced from the bench, it was all a little haphazard and didn't seem like it would bring greater rewards.
Benitez bounce
Benitez praises Everton's work rate against Man Utd
Rafael Benitez quietly built a formidable team after his appointment as manager caused so much controversy amongst Goodison Park fans.
James Rodriguez's flakiness has been replaced with a strength that cannot be ignored.
The Toffeemen, even without Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, were effective. They did not panic when United gained momentum early on and instead took their time growing into the game.
United has not kept a clean slate at Old Trafford in Premier League since March so they must have been aware of the opportunities that would present themselves.
Gray was particularly outstanding. However, Fred and Wan Bissaka could have prevented Gray from getting out of the predicament where the goal came.
Even though Mina was clearly offside, Tom Davies still had enough space to score the goal as Everton close to winning.
Manchester United's next Premier League match is against Leicester on Saturday 16 October (15:00 BST). Everton will next be taking on West Ham on Sunday 17 October at 14:00
