Cameron Norrie of Britain beat Denis Shapovalov from Canada for the second consecutive year, to reach the semifinals at the San Diego Open.

Norrie won 6-3-6-1 to continue his win at Queen's Club.

The 26-year old took control in the second set with high-quality play that left fourth seed reeling.

In the fourth round, he will be facing either Andrey Rublev of Russia or Diego Schwartzman from Argentina.

Norrie beat Dan Evans, his compatriot, to make it to the final eight. He also kept his cool against Shapovalov.

He won three consecutive games, including the first set at 3-3.

In the second set, Norrie kept putting pressure on his opponent and Shapovalov couldn't stop him.

Norrie said, "It was difficult for me to get into a rhythm early on." "But I was able hold onto my serve in the first set, and then get some return when I needed them."
