Apple's iPhone 13 line was just released last week. However, some users encountered a problem where their Apple Watch wouldn't allow them to unlock their phones while wearing a mask. Apple promised a solution and this was made available in the iOS 15.1 beta. However, it is now available for everyone as part the iOS 15.0.1 release.
Apple's official patch notes state that the update contains other bug fixes. However, the company did not specify what these might be. On my iPhone 12 Mini, the update takes 553.7MB.
Apple introduced the ability to use the Apple Watch to unlock a Face ID equipped phone while wearing masks. This feature proved to be very useful as masks are still highly recommended for many situations, including the pandemic. This software update will allow iPhone 13 users, who were affected by the bug that prevented the feature from working, to once again enjoy the convenient unlocks.
