Apple sent the first beta of Safari 15.1 to macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina developers on Thursday night for them to test. The eighth beta of macOS Monterey, which was seeded earlier in the week, also includes Safari 15.1 beta.
Although the Safari 15 beta release notes are mostly the same, we found that the beta fixes an issue in which bookmarking YouTube pages would cause Safari to crash. Apple will likely implement additional bug fixes before Safari 15.1 is released to public. However, the issue of the browser showing old tabs when it is reopened doesn't appear to have been resolved yet.
When logged in, Safari 15.1 beta is available from the Apple Developer website under the More Downloads section. Apple states that developers need to have the most recent versions of macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina in order to install beta.
Safari 15 has redesigned tabs with a more defined and round appearance, better security and faster performance. When the software update is released later in the year, the browser will be pre-installed on macOS Monterey. Apple also makes the browser available to macOS Big Sur users and macOS Catalina customers.
