Office 2021 for Mac Available October 5 With New Collaborative Features

Microsoft today announced that Office 2021 will be available for Mac on October 5, with many new features. Office 2021 includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint. OneNote is also available. Outlook can be added to the suite.


Office 2021 features many of the same collaboration features that are already available to Microsoft 365 subscribers such as real-time authoring and Microsoft Teams access for chatting or video calling with other people. Microsoft also provided additional features through a support document. These included new inking tools and data types, editing and translation tools, motion graphics and ease-of-use functions.

Non-subscription Office Home and Student 2021 are priced at $149.99 in America. It includes access to Word and Excel for personal use, PowerPoint and OneNote. Office Home and Business 2021 are also available for $249.99. This includes all of Home and Student plus Outlook and the right to use the apps for business.

A Microsoft 365 subscription allows you to access the latest versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Prices start at $6.99 per monthly or $69.99 per annum for individuals, $9.99 per per month for families, or $99.99 per annum for both.

Office 2021 will start to be available at worldwide retailers and on Microsoft.com starting October 5. Microsoft stated that Office 2021 will work on all three latest macOS releases. This presumably means macOS Monterey and macOS Big Sur as well as macOS Catalina.
