Chase Devalues: Pay Yourself Back with Newer Lesser Categories

This is good news and bad news. Chase has extended Pay Yourself Back. It is possible that it will continue at this point, but with rotating options every 3-6months.

Unfortunately, it is not easy for many to cash out large amounts in the new categories. Some will enjoy the new options, particularly frequent Airbnb users. However, many people have a much easier time buying groceries.

Quick Take

Groceries are my favorite category to spend a lot of money in. Anyone doing a home renovation etc. The same could be said for home improvement shops. Airbnb is a welcome addition, but it's not my thing. It is impossible to get it up unless your travels are extensive.

It's interesting to note that the Chase Sapphire Reserve does not include dining. Both can redeem it. This can be a large area for spending so make sure you have the CSR.

Chase Devalues Get Yourself Back Last Thoughts

Although it's great to see Chase keep the Pay Yourself Back program going, I was a bit skeptical about the possibility that the new categories would be able to reach the maximum number of people. I'm sure that many will enjoy the addition of a travel option in Airbnb and Away. For those who have already snagged the Chase Sapphire Preferred 100K welcome deal, it is a little too restrictive to limit dining options for CSR.
