Apple has updated its vintage and obsolete product list to include the Apple Watch models 38mm and 42mm in the new vintage list. This marks the first time the Apple Watch has been added to the list.
In April 2015, the first Apple Watch was launched. The Series 1 replacement and Series 2 upgrade were released in 2016. Apple continues to update the Apple Watch every year. We expect the Apple Watch Series 7 release in October 2021.
Apple's original 2015 Apple Watch qualifies now for Apple's "vintage", which is a list of devices Apple has stopped selling for more than five and less than seven year ago.
Most products are no longer eligible to be repaired at the Genius Bar in Apple retail shops or by Apple Authorized Service Providers. However, Apple offers extended repairs for some vintage products and locations that require extended repairs.
In a few years, the original Apple Watch and its hardware service will disappear completely.
