Passenger Can't Stand The Flight Anymore, Leaves Through Emergency Exit On Arrival In Miami

After the plane had landed in Miami, around 7:16 on Wednesday, a passenger on American Airlines flight 920 from Cali (Colombia) opened the emergency exit door. After the Boeing 737 MAX landed, he walked up the wing to the North terminals gate D22.
American Airlines says

American Airlines Flight 920, which had service from Cali (CLO), Colombia to Miami, was deplaning at Miami. A customer exited via an emergency exit. Law enforcement immediately took the customer into custody. We are grateful to our law enforcement team for their professionalism, prompt action, and dedication.

When officers arrived, the U.S citizen leapt from the wing and was taken by Customs and Border Protection agents.

This is not the first time that a passenger has opened an airplane's exit door. Sometimes they do so out of frustration at delays, but sometimes it is because they are trying to channel Howard Beale in the 1978 film Network. The most impressive incident was when Frontier Airlines delayed a flight because someone stole an emergency exit sign from its exit row.

Is it any surprise that this happened on an American Airlines Miami flight, or is it just commonplace?
