Britney Spears Is Finally Free From Her Father's Control After More Than 13 Years

LOS ANGELES Britney Spears was removed Wednesday by a judge from her conservatorship. He released the pop star from the control he held over her life for 13 years.
The highly anticipated hearing came as Spears' attorney and she continue to criticize her father's handling of her affairs. Brenda Penny, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge, granted Jamie Spears' request to immediately suspend Jamie Spears from her estate as conservator. This role has been filled by Penny since early 2008, when the conservatorship was established. John Zabel, a certified accountant, was appointed by Penny to temporarily oversee her finances.

This is a crucial moment in Spears's quest to free herself from the court-mandated arrangement, which gave her father, along with a group of lawyers, the keys to her personal and business affairs and fortune.

Mathew Rosengart her attorney, said that Britney Spears should wake up tomorrow without her father being her conservator.

A separate petition by Jamie Spears was filed to the court requesting that the conservatorship be terminated. The hearing will take place on Nov. 12. He has requested that the court order an end to the arrangement after he was subject to constant pressure from his daughter's counsel.

According to court papers, the singer planned to file a petition for the termination of the conservatorship by herself. However, she did so only after her father was removed. This series of events would have required him to hand over all his conservatorship files to the temporary conservator.

Rosengart stated in court filings on Tuesday that he wanted to escape justice and accountability. However, he won't.

Rosengart stated to reporters after Wednesday's hearing that Britney Spears would sue her dad if any of her money was misappropriated. The attorney suggested that Jamie Spears could be facing criminal charges.

Rosengart stated that the ramifications of Mr. Spears' actions will be far more serious than civil litigation, based on my current understanding of what happened.
