Arsenal Women 5-1 Tottenham Women: Gunners thrash local rivals

Last update on. From the section Women's Football
Arsenal defeated Tottenham to reach the semi-finals in the FA Cup.

Spurs were able to take an early lead with Rachel Williams, but Arsenal quickly took control and were equal within 10 minutes thanks to Mana Iwabuchi.

Tang Jiali scored her own goal just before Caitlin Foord, Nikita Paarris and Caitlin Foord.

Foord won the victory to send Arsenal through to Brighton.

Both Tottenham and Arsenal have won all three of their Women's Super League matches this season. However, there was clearly a gap here.

Spurs' Williams scored a fantastic opener, but Arsenal responded quickly and devastatingly.

Tobin Heath from the USA, who made her Arsenal debut, was integral in Iwabuchi scoring an equaliser. She then sent in a dangerous free kick that eventually forced Jiali to score.

Parris showed an amazing turn of pace and created the third by firing in a low cross to Foord, who was able to touch home skillfully in the six yard box.

Parris joined the scorers soon after with a nice header, all before half time.

Arsenal's intensity fell after the break. However, when they were able to get loose again, Beth Mead bent a soccer over for Foord, to pass past a helpless Rebecca Spencer.
