Richard Sherman says he's signing with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Richard Sherman, a veteran cornerback, has announced his joining of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday's Richard Sherman Podcast.
Sherman was also signed by the Buccaneers, according to a source. It is a one year contract.

Sherman, who had been in talks with the Buccaneers over several weeks, said that many teams, including the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, expressed interest.

Sherman stated, "I took the best offer that I could get, the best chance to go out and put some great tape, to lead another team." "I feel confident and comfortable in my ability to execute and help the team win.

Sherman claimed that quarterback Tom Brady also reached out to Sherman.

Sherman stated, "He's an all-time great quarterback reaching for, and whenever he makes that call it's very difficult to pass up."

According to sources, Sherman believes he will need to rest for a week before he can play in a game.

Sherman will play with the Buccaneers for the third time in his NFL career. He spent the previous three seasons with the 49ers, and began his career in Seattle with seven seasons.

Sherman, 33 years old, can offer valuable experience to one the NFL's youngest defensive backfields. Sherman is also a good tackler, which has been a problem for the Tampa Bay defense in recent seasons.

The Buccaneers were without Sean Murphy-Bunting. He was injured reserve after sustaining a dislocated right arm Sept. 20. Jamel Dean, their third cornerback left Sunday's match against the Los Angeles Rams because he sustained a knee injury during the first quarter. He did not return.

Sherman is currently addressing legal issues. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Friday in Washington. In connection with an incident at his home in Redmond, Washington in July, Sherman was arrested and charged with five misdemeanors. He was also charged with resisting arrest, driving under the influence, and recklessly endangering road workers.

He pleaded guilty to all five of the charges and stated in a July statement on Twitter that he was "deeply sorry" for his actions.

King County prosecutors and sheriff obtained an "extreme-risk protection order" for Sherman in February. This bans Sherman from possessing guns, after Sherman was deemed a threat to himself and others. The case details were not released.

Sources told ESPN's Jenna Laine that Sherman is in good legal standing and that the Buccaneers have done their research on him.
