Google Nest has brought back seasonal ringtones to its video doorbells. These include the Nest Doorbell wired, previously known as Nest Hello, and the new Nest Doorbell battery. The first is Halloween-inspired tones that will stay on through October. Next, the winter holiday-themed options.
Nest has been offering them ringtones for three years, but they have vanished after the holidays. You will still get the standard ding dong. The Nest Doorbell this year will have six evergreen ringtones, which can be used all year. Google says they will be arriving with Halloween options. However, the older Nest Doorbell is wired for them.
These spooky-themed ringstones will be available for both phones through October 31st. You don't need to subscribe to Nest Aware to receive one of these tones to greet your guests. They include an evil smile, a skeleton dance and a boo from ghost.
You can hear the tones ring from both the doorbell and any smart displays or Google Nest speakers in your home. The settings of the Google Home App to Nest Doorbell (battery), or the Nest App to the Nest Doorbell(wired) allow you the ability to choose the ringtone that suits your needs.
How to change the ringtone of your Nest Doorbell. Make sure you have the latest version of Google Home or Nest App (available from October 1st). Open the Nest or Home app on your tablet or phone. Tap your camera or doorbell. Tap Settings. You will see the option to change your ringtone.
You can make Halloween even more scary with the Google Nest displays and speakers. They can play an hour-long playlist featuring Halloween-themed sounds. You can also play a Halloween-themed game with a Nest Hub Max or Nest Hub Max. You can enter the Riddle Room with a scary twist by saying, Hey Google, tell us a Halloween riddle.
Your doorbell will default to its normal tone after Halloween ends on November 1. You can choose a different seasonal theme in the app until December 31st, or you can use the Nest Hello (battery), to pick any of the year-round options.
Last year, there were a few dozen holiday-themed tones that included themes related to Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. We can probably expect similar options in this year's edition.
