Elon Musk: ‘we probably don’t need’ NDAs for Tesla’s ‘Full Self-Driving’ beta

Tesla required participants in its Full Self-Driving beta testing to sign non-disclosure agreements. CEO Elon Musk stated Tuesday that we don't need them.
Why? Musk stated Tuesday at the 2021 Code Conference that there are many videos showing beta software in action. I am ignored by people who don't seem to pay attention to me.

He said that he didn't know why there was an NDA.

Tesla has been testing the beta version its Full Self-Driving software with a small number of owners for approximately a year. However, the software does not allow the cars to be fully autonomous on public roads. Vice reported this week that Tesla requires all participants to sign NDAs. Because there are many people who want Tesla to fail, these agreements discourage anyone from sharing footage of beta software failing.

Details about the NDA, and Musk's apparent reversal in using them, come as Tesla is poised to rapidly increase the number of people with access to the software despite a recent cautionary from the head National Transportation Safety Board. Musk and his company claim that they use the sensors in Tesla's cars to ensure only safe drivers are allowed into the program.

He said that the transition to new technology is always difficult.
