Apple slowly but surely is rolling out 3D city views within the Maps app. You can zoom and pinch your way through a three-dimensional rendering of London starting today. Apple added the experience to iOS 15 for Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York last week.
By the end of next year, the feature will be available in San Diego, Washington DC and Philadelphia. Apple will bring 3D maps to Canada in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver next year.
You'll find elevation details for each city in the 3D maps. The night mode emits a moonlit glow on the maps at dusk.
Apple claims that the app will soon provide improved navigation via CarPlay. It might also make it easier for public transit users to navigate the app. The app will notify you when it is time to get off the subway or bus by entering your route. After scanning nearby buildings, you can see step-by–step walking directions in Augmented Reality.
