Copa America champions Argentina will be facing European champions Italy next June.
Uefa (the European Football Association's governing body) announced that three editions of the intercontinental game had been agreed to.
Uefa stated that the date and location of the match are still to be determined, although Naples is believed to be a contender.
The latest step in closer cooperation between Uefa (South American equivalent), Conmebol, is a game between the continental champions.
The two confederations continue to cooperate despite Fifa's proposal to reform the international calendar. This includes World Cups every two year.
Since 1960, the champions of each continent’s top club competition have met every year. The match was merged with Fifa Club World Cup 2005.
Similar agreements have never been reached for the Copa America and European Championship champions.
"By signing this agreement, Uefa & Conmebol convey their commitment to football development beyond their geographic zones, as a bridge unifying people, countries and continents," read a statement.
"The Uefa executive and Conmebol council expressed strong cooperation on other matters of mutual interest moving forward."
In February 2020, the confederations renewed their memorandums of understanding. A joint office in London will be opened to assist with future projects.
