DisplayMate has today presented the iPhone 13 Pro Max its "Best Smartphone Display Award". DisplayMate's highest ever display performance grade, A+, was awarded to the device. It also set or tied 12 smartphone display performance records.
iPhone 13 Pro models have a Super Retina XDR LCD display with ProMotion branding. This allows for a variable refresh rate of between 10Hz to 120Hz. This technology allows the display's refresh rate to change from a power-saving 10 to an ultra smooth 120 depending on what content is displayed.
DisplayMate's deep analysis revealed that the iPhone 13 Pro Max broke the record for the highest full-screen brightness of smartphones with OLED displays. Apple claims that the iPhone 13 Pro Max can achieve a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits in typical content and 1,200 for HDR content. The iPhone 12 Pro Max, on the other hand, has a maximum brightness of 800 nits in typical content and 1,200 for HDR content.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max also holds other records, including the highest absolute color accuracy and highest screen reflectance.
Display Supply Chain Consultants states that Samsung is the only supplier of the LTPO-OLED panels for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, LG is reportedly aiming at supplying Apple with LTPO panels by next year.
