White House says more than 400,000 Americans received a Covid booster shot at pharmacies over the weekend

Over 400,000 Americans were given a Covid-19 booster shot in pharmacies this weekend, after the CDC approved third doses of BioNTech and Pfizer's vaccines to a broad range of Americans, White House coronavirus coordinator Jeff Zients stated Tuesday.
Nearly 1,000,000 people have already scheduled to receive their booster doses at a pharmacy in the next weeks, he said to reporters during a press conference. He also stated that federal and state preparations for boosters had "propelled a strong beginning."

He said, "At the exact same time, we have to keep our top priority intact first and second shots."

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 2.8 million Americans have received an additional dose of Pfizer's or Moderna vaccines since August when health officials approved the third shot.
