Emirates Special Expo 2020 Dubai Livery: A380, A6–EEU
The Special Livery: Painting
Emirates Engineering was responsible for designing, painting, producing, and installing the new A380 livery. This livery is not just a decal. It was a full-scale paint project that the Emirates Engineering teams completed.
The livery was created from the paint of A6-EEU. The aircraft was then painted with eleven different colours in a meticulous, sequential manner. The different colours were applied using a combination of electrostatic spray guns, wild spray and traditional cup guns. They used over 2,500 meters of tracing or masking material. The stencils and tracing guide were made in-house by the airline's UV printer and graphics workshop. They took many hours to complete.
Decals were applied to the cowls of the engines and the image of Emirates Cabin crew members holding the message boards next to the aircraft exits.
The entire process of applying decals and painting the livery design took 16 days and 4,379 man hours.
Three Emirates A380 aircraft will be equipped with the new Expo 2020 Dubai livery. Los Angeles will receive the special A380 Expo 2020 livery on 29 September.
