Nintendo has announced plans to expand Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka with a Donkey Kong area. It's not surprising that construction has been ongoing for some time.
Nintendo has released images that confirm that the Donkey Kong Zone can be accessed via a large round entrance that is already present in the park. This door is almost exclusively Mario-themed. According to Nintendo, the zone will make Super Nintendo Worlds' overall size increase by around 70%.
Nintendo released a statement stating that the Donkey Kong Zone will feature a roller coaster and interactive experiences, as well as themed merchandise and food. The area will allow guests to explore the wild side of the jungles where Donkey Kong lives.

After the Mario world, I'm very happy to be able make the world Donkey Kong a reality, according to Nintendos Shigeru Myamoto, who created both the Mario and Donkey Kong characters. With the incredible team at Universal, I look forward to creating an unforgettable Donkey Kong experience. Although it may take some time before it is complete, it will be an area that will be unique for guests who are familiar with Donkey Kong and all other visitors.
It is expected that the new area will open in 2024. At which time it might be possible to travel to Japan. For the Universal Studios parks in Orlando, Hollywood, Singapore, and Singapore, Nintendo-themed areas are being planned.
