Tottenham's pair Giovani Lo Celso (for Tottenham) and Cristian Romero (for Aston Villa) were named in the Argentina squad.

Argentina has selected three Premier League players to play October's World Cup qualifiers, despite it remaining on the UK travel red list.

Most English clubs did not release qualifiers players from South American countries last month.

Argentine citizens arriving from abroad are no longer required to quarantine once they arrive in Argentina.

Anyone arriving from Argentina must be quarantined for 10 days.

Emiliano Martinez, goalkeeper at Aston Villa, and Tottenham's Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero were named in Argentina's 30-man squad to play against Paraguay and Uruguay from 8-15 October.

Both Tottenham and Villa have Premier League fixtures the weekend of 16-17 Oct.

The Premier League issued a statement in August stating that its clubs had "reluctantly, but unanimously", decided not to release any players during September's international breaks.

Villa stated that Martinez and Emiliano Buendia would join their national team, while Nuno Espirito Santito, Spurs boss, said the club "cannot" stop Lo Celso or Romero from travelling, even though they wouldn't be available for one Premier League match.

It caused farcical scenes in the Brazil v Argentina World Cup qualifier at Sao Paulo. The match was stopped after five minutes by Brazilian health officials who came to the pitch to end the match. They said that Argentina's four England-based players needed to be quarantined.

They were able to return via Croatia, so they didn't have to be quarantined upon their return to the UK.

Fifa, the world governing body, has the power of imposing five-day suspensions on players who are not allowed to play for their national teams.

Brazil is six points ahead of Argentina in the South American qualifying group. Argentina has five wins from eight.
