9to5Google reported that NBC Universal warned YouTube TV subscribers 14 of its channels could be removed if they can't settle a dispute. YouTube posted the following on its blog: "If the matter is not resolved, we will reduce our monthly price $10. YouTube TV subscribers will lose NBC, USA Network and Golf Channel.
YouTube claims that the dispute centers on how much YouTube TV is paying NBC Universal (NBCU), for its content. YouTube TV stated that it seeks the same rates from NBCU for the duration of its agreement so it can continue to offer YouTube TV to members at a fair and competitive price. NBC stated in a statement it is seeking fair rates from Google and that YouTube TV was "just days away" from expiring its contract.
NBC Universal wants to pressure YouTube TV by asking users to chat or tweet at YouTube TV or to switch providers. YouTube said that it will renew only if NBCU offers them equitable terms and would drop its monthly prices by $10, from $64.99 - $54.99 while the channels were off YouTube TV. To retain NBCU content, it encouraged users to sign-up for NBC's Peacock streaming services for $4.99 per monthly.
