iPhone 13 Pro teardown: The battery size increase is real

It has been a while since the iPhone 13 Pro was available for purchase. iFixit has taken the iPhone 13 Pro down to its smallest parts.
Although the design of the new iPhone 12 Pro is very similar to the iPhone 12 Pro last year, Apple engineers have made significant changes inside. They've squeezed every inch of space possible to pack more tech into the phone.

The battery is the most important feature. Apple claims that the iPhone 13 Pro's battery life is significantly longer than the iPhone 12 Pro. This can be seen in both the size and capacity of the battery. The iPhone 13 Pro's new L-shaped battery has a capacity of 11.97 Wh, compared with the iPhone 12 Pro's 10.78 Wh.

Others have been combined or rearranged to save space. For example, Face ID's flood projector and flood illuminator have been combined into one module. This is how Apple was able make the iPhone 13 Pro's notch 20% narrower than the iPhone 12 Pro.

A notable feature that has been rumored, but now confirmed, is the iPhone 13 Pro's 6GB RAM. This is the same amount as its predecessor.

The teardown is not complete yet. iFixit continues to work on it. We'll let you know if they discover anything extraordinary.
