‘I’ll be darned’: Biden reacts to pivotal German election result

After speaking to reporters about coronavirus diseases (COVID-19), vaccines, and booster shots, U.S. President Joe Biden answered questions.
After a reporter informed him that the Social Democratic Party was leading in Germany's historic federal elections, Joe Biden, President of the United States, said Sunday "I will not be darned".

Biden, after spending the weekend at Camp David didn't know who was going to win the German vote, until he returned to Washington D.C.

Biden stated that the SPD had "solid" results after being told it was likely to defeat Angela Merkel's conservative coalition, according to Reuters.

According to Monday's preliminary results, the SPD received 25.9% of the vote, while Merkel's right-leaning bloc, the Christian Democratic Union, and Christian Social Union, got 24.1%.
