Louisiana-Monroe QB Rhett Rodriguez, son of longtime coach Rich Rodriguez, in intensive care with lung injury

Rhett Rodriguez of Louisiana-Monroe, the son of Rich Rodriguez, was hospitalized after sustaining a lung injury during Saturday's match against Troy. According to his father, he is now in intensive care.
Rich Rodriguez tweeted on Sunday that Rhett's family wanted to thank everyone for their support and prayers. He was currently being treated at the hospital after suffering a lung injury in last night's match against Troy.

Louisiana-Monroe's school spokesperson declined to give further details, citing privacy laws.

Rich Rodriguez, a former head coach at West Virginia (2001–07), Michigan (2008)-10) and Arizona (2012)-17 is the Warhawks' associate coach and offensive coordinator. He was under Terry Bowden. He is also a coach for the quarterbacks.

After enrolling in January, his son from Arizona was accepted into the program in spring and was named the starting quarterback. He started his Arizona career playing for his father, former coach Kevin Sumlin. He still has two years of eligibility.

Rodriguez completed 10 out of 16 passes for 131 yard and a touchdown during Saturday's 29-16 victory against Troy.
