Republican Governor. On Sunday, Greg Abbott of Texas expressed support for US Border Patrol agents being disciplined by the Biden administration and pledged to hire them if their jobs are at risk.

Chris Wallace, host of Fox News Sunday, asked Abbott to comment on the video and images showing agents riding on horseback at Haitian migrants near Texas' border. This prompted a flood of outrage from many in the country, including President Biden and Vice President Kamala Hariri, as well as many members of Congress.

Abbott immediately criticized the president and slammed his administration for not enforcing existing immigration laws.

The governor stated that they wouldn't be in such a situation if the Biden administration had enforced immigration law and secured border.

He said, "If he takes anything against them whatsoever I worked side-by-side with those Border Patrol Agents I want them to learn something. You have a job with the Texas state government if they are at-risk of losing their jobs due to a president abandoning his duty of securing the border. You will be hired to secure Texas' border.

Last week, President Joe Biden stated that agents who attacked migrants crossing the Rio Grande in Del Rio (Texas) would be punished.

Biden spoke out about the agents at a White House press conference, saying that he promised them they would pay. There will be consequences... It's dangerous. It is dangerous. It sends a wrong message to the world and at home. It is not who we are.

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security stated that they take allegations of mistreatment "very serious."

The department stated that the footage was extremely troubling and that the facts from the thorough investigation, which will be done quickly, will determine the appropriate disciplinary actions to take.

The Trump administration has resumed deportations last week under Title 42. This is a policy of public health that allows the US remove migrants from the country, without giving them an opportunity to apply to asylum.

NPR reported that Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, said Friday that all the Haitian migrants were removed from Del Rio. Mayorkas confirmed that approximately 2,000 of the 15,000 migrants staying in a camp at Del Rio were returned to Haiti while 12,400 are still in the US, awaiting their hearing before immigration judges.

Wallace asked Abbott about Texas' role at the US-Mexico Border. Wallace noted that Attorney General Merrick Galrland threatened to sue Abbott over an executive order targeting migrants.

The governor stated that the Biden administration was refusing to fulfill its duty to enforce laws in the United States. This has left Texas in an untenable position. "I will do everything I can to protect Del Rio and all the other communities in Texas that the Biden administration ignores."
