The box score doesn't show how badly Georgia Bulldogs beat Vanderbilt Commodores

Despite playing only nine snaps, Georgia DT Jordan Davis said he wanted to make an impact each time he steps onto the field. (0:59).
Davis hopes that No. 2 Dawgs can keep teams out (0.59)

No. Although 2 Georgia versus Vanderbilt was not the most important matchup in college football Saturday, it gained a lot of attention. The Bulldogs won in all aspects.

It was so bad! Georgia scored 62 points. Vanderbilt had 77 total yards.

Scores can only be one thing. Box scores are numbers. This was a video-game-on-easy-level beatdown. Let's take a look at the statistics of this 62-0 win:

35: Georgia coach Kirby Smart's team scored 35 first-quarter goals -- the highest number of points by a Georgia team since 1996 according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

Caesars Sportsbook reported that the Bulldogs finished as a 36-point favourite over the Commodores. They managed to cover almost the entire game spread before the end of the second quarter.

After the first, the 35-point advantage was the largest for any Power 5 matchup since 2013, when Florida State beat NC State 35-0. It's also the largest lead in an SEC conference matchup ever since 2000.

38-0: Vandy displayed some resilience in the second quarter, allowing only three points to be lost. It failed to score any points and was left with a 38-0 deficit at the half. Georgia had the largest lead over any SEC opponent at the half since 2010.

77: Vanderbilt’s offense, or lack thereof, was more eye-popping that the score. The game saw Vanderbilt accumulate 77 yards of offense, while the team had 54 yards in the first three quarters. Vandy was the first SEC team to gain less than 60 yards in 45 minutes of play since the 2015 Arkansas Razorbacks.

One Vanderbilt fan was not impressed despite the large deficit. One Vanderbilt fan yelled "Overrated!" After the Bulldogs had scored a field goal in their third, the person shouted at the team.

1964: The 62 point loss is one the most shocking in SEC history. It is tied for the third largest road shutout victory for a conference game.

This was Vanderbilt’s worst loss since 1964 when it was defeated by Tennessee 65-0.

Shutouts seem to be a common occurrence for the Commodores. They laid a goose egg last season against Missouri 41-0.

8 and 4: Georgia scored touchdowns quickly and often, while Vanderbilt was completely shut down. The Bulldogs scored twice the number of touchdowns (88) than the Commodores' first downs (44) -- this is a great team performance.
